General Purpose:
Responsible for the collecting, analyzing, and maintaining of the Geographic Information System (GIS) for all Missouri service territories |
|
Essential Functions:
¨ Responsible for collecting, analyzing and maintaining of the Geographic Information System (GIS) for all Missouri service territories:
s Collects or receives data from a field technician
s Transfers data into a specific database
s Performs data processing and data editing
§ Downloading data from the GPS equipment to a laptop
§ Performing differential corrections via GPS Pathfinder office software
§ Exporting data files in shapefile (GIS) format to be imported to and edited using ArcGIS software
§ Loading the data onto a satellite photo
§ Creating accurate reports and maps of the gas system
¨ Conducts field work:
s Field mapping using Trimble GPS equipment
s Collecting data
s Updating all GPS and GIS software
s Downloading up to date GIS databases from various government agencies (including address databases, satellite photos and orthoimagery)
s Maintaining GPS equipment
¨ Follow good health and safety principles, practices and maintain a business-like appearance including wearing company provided clothing is essential to providing the proper company image
s Passing required field evaluations and tests for continuing education (OQ) |

Secondary Functions
¨ Researching and creating various maps, reports, and graphs for various departments within Summit Natural Gas, Inc. of Missouri
s Other duties as assigned by GIS Project Manager |

Job Qualifications:
· Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
s Intermediate knowledge of ESRI products
s Intermediate level of knowledge of the field of geographic information systems
s Basic project manager with the ability to build strong client relations
s Strong computer skills with familiarity with supporting applications such as CAD, database, internet, etc. and ability to solve software problems
s Interpersonal/communication skills including good verbal skills exhibited in meetings, one-on-one exchanges and presentations. Appropriate written communication skills required for everyday correspondence and reviewing writing in a technical format.
s Exhibits a high-level of personal initiative and motivation to multi-task several projects simultaneously
s Excellent organizational and planning skills required with demonstrated quality and thoroughness on each assignment
s Exhibits high level of attention to detail in all facets of the work
s Knowledge of natural gas systems desirable
s Ability to locate gas lines
s Understanding of various coordinate systems |

Education and Work Experience:
· High school degree or equivalent with some college preferred.
· Two years experience working with Geographic Information Systems (GIS), with two years experience project management preferred |
|
Working Environment:
· Extensive traveling including heavy driving on a regular basis

· Shop and field, indoor and outdoor environment; exposure to noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, chemicals, inclement weather conditions and road traffic |
